Wedge-tailed Eaglet at about 4 weeks old

I visited the nest with the new Wedge-tailed Eaglet again today, and was happy to see some good progress. The eaglet is looking very strong and healthy and has been eating well. Iā€™m guessing the age at about 4 weeks, based on my previous observations and the beginnings of a line of dark greyish brown feathers along the edge of its wing and along its back.

The adults are spending most of the day soaring high above the nest or perched on the branches of nearby dead trees. They are constantly being swooped by a procession of magpies, crows, ravens, kites, kestrels and the occasional falcon.

This is just a short video of the eaglet moving about the nest and (of course) defaecating over the edge of the nest with a strong squirt.
